All the men arrived safely back from the Men’s Retreat this weekend and although more tired than we left, it was a refreshing break to spent time with one another, encourage each other and share the trials and triumphs of our lives.

The theme for the weekend was ‘following Jesus’, reminding ourselves of Jesus’ call to forsake all and follow Him. Even for students and staff of a mission training college, it was a healthy time to truly count to cost of pursuing a life with Jesus.

As well as the times of reflection and sharing, there were many memories made through the fun activities. Friday evening was the opportunity to display our manliness in arm wrestling, nail hitting and many games of chess. Some of the men went canoeing along the city’s river (though some spent more time in the water than the actual canoe) whilst the others chose the dry and warm activity of bowling.

A real retreat for men means good food, so we were blessed to have a BBQ and an English breakfast among many other tasty treats. All in all it was a great weekend, to reflect on our past times, reconsider Jesus’ words and to fill our bellies.
